Why Your Phone Looks Dirty Even When You Clean It

You wipe your phone.

It looks clean for about six minutes.

Then somehow it is covered in fingerprints, pocket dust, little marks, mystery smudges and whatever that thing is around the camera.

Phones are dramatic like that.

The truth is, your phone does not need to be cracked or scratched to start looking tired. Sometimes it just looks constantly dirty — even when you are cleaning it.

1. Your phone is basically a fingerprint museum

Your phone is touched all day.

Messages. Maps. Payments. Photos. Scrolling. Calls. School apps. Shopping lists. A quick look at the weather. Another quick look at the weather because you forgot what it said.

Every tap adds a little oil from your skin. That is why the screen can look cloudy, streaky or greasy even if you cleaned it earlier.
